Sanja Kojić Mladenov

Curator of the EVROVIZION project

Sanja Kojić Mladenov is, together with Sabina Klemm, the curator of the exhibition of the EVROVIZION project. She is is a curator, art historian and researcher in the fields of recent artistic practice, media and gender. She has curated the Serbian Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennale and the North Mazedonian Pavillon at the 59th Venice Biennale.

SANJA KOJIĆ MLADENOV (b. 1974, Novi Sad/RS) is a curator, art historian and researcher in the fields of recent artistic practice, media and gender. She graduate of the Department of Art History at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Belgrade/RS and has master’s and PhD in Interdisciplinary Gender Studies at the University of Novi Sad (ACIMSI). She was director (2013–2016) and is senior curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Vojvodina, Novi Sad/RS since 2006, where she heads the Department of Current Art Exhibitions and the Center for Intermedial and Digital Art. Kojić Mladenov was the curator of the Serbian Pavilion at the 54th Venice Biennial of Contemporary Art in 2011 and of the exhibition Light and Darkness of Symbols: Dragoljub Raša Todosijević, which was the winner of the UniCredit Venice Award. She was the winner of the prestigious Lazar Trifunovi Prize for best critical art practice in 2016, as well as the award of the Society of Art Historians of Serbia for the best author exhibition in 2013. She is the author and curator of many thematic exhibitions and research projects in Serbia and abroad, as well as international and EU projects (Performing the Museum, Risk Change, Missing Stories). Kojić Mladenov lives and works in Novi Sad/RS.

She has presented author’s exhibitions and projects at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts, Taichung/TW; the Antoni Tàpies Foundation, Barcelona/ES; Kunstsammlungen und Museen Augsburg: H2- Zentrum für Gegenwartskunst, Augsburg/DE; Museum of Conteporary Art Zagreb/HR; Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Rijeka/HR; National Museum of Montenegro, Cetinje/ME; National Gallery of Macedonia, Skopje/MK; Kunsthalle, Kosice/SK; Museum of Contemporary Art of Republic of Srpska, Banja Luka/BA; Tirana Art Lab, Tirana/AL; Koroška Gallery of Fine Arts, Slovenj Gradec/SI; RIXC, RigaLV/; ACE KIBLA, Maribor/SI; ZINC Marseille/FR; Cultural Network of Towns, Graz/AT; TOKI Art Space, Tokyo/JP. She has curated projects with Oleg Kulik, Róza El-Hassan, Breda Beban, Grayson Perry, Damien Hirst, Sigalit Landau and others.

Kojić Mladenov has published more than a hundred critical essays, exhibition reviews and scholarly articles. She has published monographson Dragoljub Raša Todosijević, Bogdanka Poznanović, Igor Antić, and the book LEAP AND DIVE –Discourses on Gender in Art. Identity of Artists in (New)Media Practice. She is a member of the international associations AICA, ICOM and CIMAM (scholarship holder, 2011).
