Maxim Poleacov

Maxim Poleacov (born in Tiraspol/MD) is a cultural practitioner and publisher and coordinates 3rd Space Studio, a collectively organized workshop for diverse practices related to DIY publications and self-organized publishing. His ongoing research focuses on methods of samizdat and small-run publishing. Poleacov approaches publishing not only as a means of producing and distributing printed matter, but also as a social and collective practice. Through self-organized editorial experiments and distribution structures, open studios, and temporary formats such as pop-up cafés or libraries, he explores how publishing can create spaces for encounters, conversations, and exchange. Central to his practice is the question of how self-organized publishing can become a means of interaction and a tool for forming and organizing collectives. Poleacov lives and works in Chișinău/MD.

The Pickle Bar Residency-Mentorship Program is an integral part of EVROVIZION. CROSSING STORIES AND SPACES. Ahead of selected exhibition openings, young local cultural practitioners are invited to develop their own projects during a two-month stay in Berlin in exchange with Slavs and Tatars. The program thus creates a connection between the respective local contexts of the touring exhibition and an international space for artistic and social exchange.

As part of the Chișinău chapter of EVROVIZION. CROSSING STORIES AND SPACES, Maxim Poleacov was selected by Slavs and Tatars and ifa as a fellow of the Pickle Bar Residency-Mentorship Program. During his two-month stay in Berlin, from 20 November 2025 to 20 January 2026, he developed Kholodets Publishing House, which took place at Pickle Bar Berlin on 15 January 2026 as an artist talk and workshop.
