Maria Efstathiou
Co-curator for local artistic positions in Nicosia
Maria Efstathiou is a curator from Nicosia and has developed a local programme and local artistic position for the EVROVIZION presentation in Nicosia.
Maria Efstathiou (born in Nicosia/CY) is the General Director of the CVAR Museum at the Costas and Rita Severis Foundation in Nicosia (December 2023–present). Maria served as Director of the Pierides Foundation (2021–2023). She was an integral member of the curatorial team at NiMAC (2017–2023), contributing to large-scale exhibitions and projects, and curated Theatro Polis OPAP between 2020 and 2022, overseeing a period of intensified focus on local performance actors.
In addition to her institutional roles, Maria has delivered lecture presentations at symposiums and conferences, including her 2024 presentation of the photographic essay "The Appropriation of the Institutional Gage" at the FRONTPAGE Symposium.
Through her commitment to interdisciplinary cultural engagement, Maria continues to contribute to contemporary cultural landscapes through innovative curatorial practice and collaborative leadership.
